THE ROLE OF PARENTS TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (PTA) ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

          This research work is aimed at investigating the influence of PTA on the administration  of schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

          Twenty students were randomly selected from five secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area.

          The data was collected by means of questionnaire. The data were collected by the use of percentage scores.

          The finding of the study shows that:

  1. PTA helps to provide transport facilities for schools.
  2. PTA helps also in fund raising towards the welfare of the students.
  3. Indiscipline in schools can be attributed to lack of cooperation between parents and the school authority.
  4. Schools with strong PTA are less liable to riot than schools with strong PTA.
  5. PTA enhances the improvement in moral academic and spiritual welfare of the students.

The implication of the results were discusses and recommendation were made.
